Instant Foods : Bibimbap

One day during lunch, I came across Instant Bibimbap, which only requires hot water!

Bibimbap is a Korean dish, with various seasoned vegetable (namul  나물) neatly laid upon a bed of white rice, topped with a chili paste (gochujang  고추장) and salty soybean paste (doenjang  된장).

Being a lazy person who enjoys good food, I immediately grabbed this Instant Bibimbap.

It comes in 3 yummy flavours : Kimchi, Beef and Mushroom

When opened, the rice grains felt like hard, puffed rice cereal, while the bits of vegetables looked like sad little squares, shriveled and little.

So, all you have to do is add hot water according until the markings at the sides of the packaging, then close it up and wait 5-10 minutes.
After the rice and vegetables are rehydrated, add the provided sauce and sesame oil, mix, and you're ready to tuck in!

(I may have added a little too much water...)

Ooo! I never expected it to be this good! The hard "rice puff" actually tasted like freshly steamed rice, and is slightly more chewier than normal rice!
It is also generously served with lots of seaweed.
The salty-sweet sauce even complemented the rice and seaweed to create an awesome Bibimbap!

However, it was quite spicy to those who aren't used to spiciness, and is a little expensive to eat everyday during mealtimes (SGD$3.50). :D

Why eat instant Bibimbap when you can order a fresh one?

If I were to eat this again, I think I would serve it up with a sunny-side up, or maybe some stir-fried Kimchi beef.
